Google has acquired Bitspin, according to an announcement by the maker of the Android alarm clock app Timely:
We’re thrilled to announce that Bitspin is joining Google, where we’ll continue to do what we love: building great products that are delightful to use.
For new and existing users, Timely will continue to work as it always has. Thanks to everyone who has downloaded our app and provided feedback along the way; we truly appreciate all your support.
And in December, Dailymotion announced the acquisition of Jilion, the Lausanne based development team behind cutting edge HTML5 video technology, SublimeVideo.
The number of founders in Switzerland continues to rise, as in 2013, there was a record amount of new entries in the commercial register, over 40,000. So, 2014 is shaping up to be a good year in the Swiss Startup ecosystem, and I personally hope it gets more international coverage and more success stores.
